Cassava (Tapioca) Manufacturer Kerepek & Keropok @ Tanjung Sepat

Riding deep into the woods, we were on a mission to hunt for the factory that made some awesome crackers! We tasted once when one of our colleagues bought some for us and most of instantly fell in love with it since they were quite delicious, even though the factory might be located a little deeper into the woods, that didn't stop us from heading there!

No worries, it wasn't a looooong trip, as soon as you finish your gossip in the car, you would find yourself arriving there around the corner. You wouldn't miss it, there are plenty of cars parking right outside.

Workers are skinning the potatoes very skillfully.

Those skinned potatoes are then put into this machine to be sliced into thin pieces.

After the rather short factory tour, you will be brought over to their shops. Here, you can will see lotsa local made natural products. Most importantly, you can get those crackers freshly out from the factory from here!

They even have different flavors for the crackers such as Dhal, Curry and etc. You could test them on the spot and see which one suits you the best and for the large packet one would only cost you about RM9, which is big enough to share with about 6 - 10 people. In terms of the flavors, it is really up to personal preferences. For us, we bought lotsa Dhal flavors as we found that to be tastier. However, we also discovered that the batch of crackers that we bought were not s good and delicious as our colleague bought for us like 2 -3 months ago, of course we wouldn't know why it could taste different, perhaps it's seasonal and maybe the potatoes didn't grow so well during the period when we went.

Nonetheless, this is a good stop when you are in Tanjung Sepat and the crackers actually make a very good souvenirs for your friends and family!

  1. […] This junk food is awesome even if it never packs any significant nutritional value and it still makes your movies and parties more enjoyable than ever when it’s around. Unlike those crackers packets sold in the hypermarkets which are usually filled with more air than the chips, here you can bag away a huge packet, filled to the brim with your favourite chips with all the local flavours at reasonable prices! Totally awesome! Read more about it here. […]
