The Good Old Days: How did I look like?

2 comments:
The Doodle Blog has really come a long way. Have you ever wondered how my drawing looked like before that? Maybe you could take a look and laugh your bellies away. I could not help giggling at my initial drawings either.

I wondered where I found the courage to post up my ugly drawings that time.

Haha!

Iphone Vs. Androids Vs. Blackberry?

10 comments:
Photobucket

For those who are techy, or love changing phones, they should know that there are three dominant phone’s operating systems in the market right now- Apple’s Iphones, Androids and Blackberry. As a person who changes phones fast, I have of course tried the three different platforms and have discovered a new found love! Thus, I am going to write about it. This is an opinion piece however, so you may or may not agree with it.

Iphones.
I never owned any iphones, they are too expensive and generally I feel they are overrated. Apple computers have always been good but Iphones are only an extension. It is not worth it to pay for the price. I have borrowed one though from my cousin and after about two days, I returned it to him. For a person who loves freedom, Iphone has too many restrictions and it is overly money-sucking. Most of its apps require you to purchase them. And jail-breaking is a risky option. As far as it goes, the device is great but apart from the wonderful choices of cases, they are all generically the same. So much for uniqueness and a phone you can call your own. And the phone is so overly priced, not because Apple decides to make it this way, but due to the demand and supply the price is always high. We, consumers make it this way while we know that this device never deserves its worth. I could use some of this extra cash for charity!

Android
Like I previously mentioned, I love freedom and android provides you plenty of that. And the fact that many brands have integrated Android operating system into their products; it means that you have a wide range of devices to choose from. You could pick the devices that suit your needs; from the size of the phones, brands or camera pixels. And also you don’t have to burn your wallets as some of the devices with Android operating system come with an affordable price by discarding some redundant features of the phone. Besides that, Android operates as good as Iphone, or even much better than it. If you are an adventurous risk-taker, you could even google up some tutorials that help you to “modify” your system so that the phone could perform better and etc. And not forgetting about all the free apps available in the android markets! You don’t have to pay for them!

Blackberry
My father has always had one and after trying it, I thought it was boring. Recently however, I decided to give the device a try. Surprisingly, I fell in love with it. Personally, Blackberry has created a blue ocean of its own. The entire device is invented to communicate and it sticks to the purpose very well. The straight forward interface is designed in such a way that you could reach your purpose without any other distractions. Certainly, it does not provide as much entertainment like the Iphone or Android, but if you are a person who wants a phone purely for communication, you would find Blackberry suit your needs the best. Ever since I have my Blackberry, I have been communicating; social networking more than ever!

What's your pick? =D

The Good Old Days: I am gonna kill you.

It's really interesting to read back your old posts. You should do it if you have a blog yourselves. I don't know but I find it really funny and fun to laugh at your own childishness and stupidity in the past.

As for my today's post, I have selected one of my posts which dated about a year back! I never knew The Doodle Blog has existed this long.

Oh well... The weather has been more bearable these days but still... Have a look nonetheless!

How to Keep Your Blog Clean?

8 comments:
Social networking overloaded.
Too many widgets.
Too messy.
Too commercialized.
Too fanciful.
Too many advertisements on the shout box.
Too long the loading time.
Distraction to my blog's contents.

So I removed them all.

Hope you all like my clean sidebars.
Hope you all continue supporting The Doodle Blog.

On the other note, I have removed the Disquis Comment System as well. It loads really slow. So all my older posts would not have the comment button. Sadly.

Cheers,
YC. <3

How to be NOT-FOR-PROFIT.

Photobucket

Bloggers do earn a lot of money, from reviews and advertising mainly, provided that their blogs are popular.

I don't earn anything from this blog, seriously. Mainly because I don't accept requests for reviews and advertising. I don't want to feel obligated. I will only write reviews to things I seriously feel that they deserve it. Besides, I started this blog initially to share my cartoons, not to gain profits from it. The only advertisement I put is the Nuffnang's one on the sidebar and even that doesn't give me anything much. (Still saving up to get my own domain!)

So thanks to my philosophy, my blog will remain very poor. =(

I hope that answers your questions.

Oh yes, I do read all the comments left in chat box or each of the post! So feel free to ask me anything!

Student Privileges @ Manhattan Fish Market

Photobucket

During the 1st of April, Manhattan Fish Market launched its RM6.99 Fish and Chips deal which attracted many customers, and subsequently, they extended the promotion for another week that undoubtedly raised its sales.

This time around, Manhattan Fish Market introduced new cheap lunch meals for students, pricing at about RM10 NETT (including all taxes). The meal comes with a bottomless frizzy drinks. And you even get 50% discount for desserts if you decide to order any.

Photobucket

Here some of the available meals to choose from...

Photobucket

RM10 Nett. Main meal + bottomless frizzy drink? Sounds worth it?
Well, it might be?

Here's the catch, all the portion of the food has shrunken in sizes. It is the same as the fish and chips deal they had before. They increase the sales volume but decrease the quantity and quality of the food, making Manhattan Fish Restaurant more like just another fast-food chain now.

The warp and roll I ordered from one of the choices? It's extremely plain and not to mention it was COLD.

Photobucket

Well, at least they still gave me a proper tuna wrap. My friend ordered the Seafood 101, which in the brochure it showed that it's filled with fried squids and shrimps, very plentiful.

But when the actual food came about, there was only a few, small pieces of fishes and probably one fried Squid?? When we asked the waitress why it was so different from the illustrations? She bluntly told us that whatever the photo shows is not included in the actual food. What the hell?

Anyways, the meal was a let down. But hey we ordered the 50% Desserts! The Mud Pie and Brownies with Ice-Cream.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Luckily, the desserts made up for our disappointments. They were surprisingly good as compared with the main course which was seriously a let down. And that is probably the only thing worth noting for this promotion.

So if you are thinking the food is worth your RM10, maybe there might be choices out there? Who knows...

How to be a REAL Chinese?

Photobucket
No kidding!
How do you plan to climb down if the stairs are this steep!!
It's steeper than you can imagine. And it was snowing! It was so slippery.
I actually almost slipped down TWICE.

But I did manage to reach the top, and somehow crawled down safely! =)
The view was magnificent. And the snow...and the cold freezing breeze..*ACHOO*

And yes, I was in China for a while. =)
Those photos were taken in The Great Wall of China.

Picadilly @ Millennium Square, SS14

Photobucket

FOOD-A-BOUT!!!

I haven't posted about food in a while so I am going to do so now!

I have recently discovered this awesome restaurant called Picadilly in SS14, Millennium Square. It is around the same area as Digital Mall. I think some of you must have heard of it before since it has been gaining a lot of popularity.

I have taken a liking to this restaurant due to its affordable and huge portion of food and also they are pretty delicious too! Besides that, whether you favor western, chinese, malay or indian foods, they have it all here! There is a long list of menu for you to choose from.

Oh, when I said it's affordable, it is really cheap for its portion and place. It costs only RM5.90 for a plate of fried rice. Of course, they have many varieties of fried rice too!

Just take a look at some of the photos below!! See them for yourself! =)

[Anime] Kurau: Phantom memory

Synopsis

It is the year 2100, and on the colonized Moon, a project is under way to explore new aspects of energy. Amami Kurau is the daughter of the chief scientist on the project, and on her 12th birthday, she accompanies her father to the lab to observe the experiments. Then something goes awry, and Kurau is struck by twin bolts of light. In the aftermath, her father is dismayed to find that his daughter is no longer his daughter. Rather, her body is now home to two energy entities with fantastic powers.

(Source: ANN)

Review

This animation is pretty old, introduced in year 2004 and it never really captured the attention of the audiences. The main reason is probably because of its common sci-fi/action genre, in which people might have the impression that it is just another hollow action; good-guy-chasing-bad-guy shows. Undeniably, the plot does revolve around that of chasing and being chased. However, such synopsis and classification do not give the anime justice as it comprises something more in-depth.

Kurau is an anime driven by strong character developments and emotional human-relationship themes. It does not fall on the romance/love category as the show does not focus only on such connection; instead, it shows various type relationships between the characters, from family, love to work. How the people deal with their pasts, presents and future and how they interconnect with each other. And also the attachment of this alien species towards humanity.

It is also amusing to watch how the creators use Rynax (a species in the show) to showcase the joy and solitary moments of having another loved one to share these with. Between this alien species, it reveals an emotion far beyond love; like a need to survive with each other, a co-existence. Without one another, no matter how wonderful one's life can be, the heart will always be empty; will always be lonely.

Though this anime does not have a long list of soundtracks, (in fact most of them have been repeated in every single episode) the producers did do a good job in choosing the right music. The ending theme, Moonlight, emits a powerful melody that evoke a certain sense loneliness within its symphony. Together with the song and the emotional storyline, the combination amplify the melancholy theme of the show; making the entire atmosphere really sentimental yet warm. It is the main song used in the anime that in my personal point of view, it does a good job in conveying the mood of anime right to the viewers. It hits you at the right place of your heart at the right moments.

The character designs are really realistic. And with the animation done by Studio BONES which has produced some prominent titles in the industry, the actions scenes are really smooth if not brilliant. Some of the scenery in the shows are really beautiful as well.

The pacing of the anime is good. Every single episode reveals a certain something, no time is wasted on unnecessary plots. At the end of the story, every loose ends will be tied up; every questions will be answered.

It has been a very long time since I have been moved by an anime so much. It is one of the most intriguing titles I have ever watched in my entire anime-watching life. I was looking for a sci-fi/mecha/actions anime only to find myself watching a deep and mature anime emphasized on the growth of the characters and their relationships.

Kurau: Phantom memory has given me plenty of surprises; and many questions to ponder on in life. Without a doubt, it is an anime that has a real, mature and in-depth plot unlike those fan-service, mindless animes to cater fanboys's perverted desires. In fact, Kurau is by far one of the most powerful main character I have ever come across in all the animes I watched, whether it is the principles, attitude, personalities of hers, they put me in awe.

It is definitely not a series where you could rush through and fast forward it. You might need to spend a bit of time to appreciate and understand the whole story, but it is all worthwhile in the end.

So if you a person who loves something in depth and meaningful, interested in character developments and powerful storyline instead of a hollow animes, this might be the right title for you!

Few things to note:
1. Though ANN categorized it as YURI theme. I don't even feel it or realize probably because they are talking about the need Rynax(alien species) to live and survive together with their fated partner.
2. The naming may be a bit weird for their characters, but watch on then you will know.
3. If you are not the emotional type of a person or just can't possibly connect, then you might not like it.
4. If you love BIG EYES, whiny voice, busty, pretty and submissive female anime characters, then this is also not for you. ^^ (And I hate those.)

The Silky Hair....

Photobucket

I let my hair grow just to chop them off later again. ==||
But anyways I really like short hair...

Light, easy, casual, fun and no pressure! WOOT!

They always tell you guys prefer girls with long hair, cause they are more feminine and girlish.

But I am sorry, I don't live for guys.
I live for ME and MYSELF.

Social Networking Kills!

Photobucket

There are too many social networking sites nowadays!!
Unlike a lot of other people, I only keep one or two which I use it for more personal stuffs.
(I am not even really active in my own facebook...Getting a bit too complicated)

One of which I recently discovered is actually Tumblr. The straight-forward features and user-friendly dashboard really attract me a lot. Even the application for the phone is simple, making sharing very easy. So yes, I am currently using Tumblr as my more personal corner to share my thoughts.

Feel free to visit or even follow it if you want to, it's more of a personal space to me though, so please gentle with it. =)

How to save an Old Hi-Fi (Or NOT)

Photobucket

My ever faithful mini hi-fi that has served me for 10 years!

It is the first hi-fi I have ever owned and also the gift from my parents for scoring well for my UPSR back then.

Everything else is fine except that it can't play CD anymore. Actually this problem has appeared on and off, but this time it actually gave up totally.

I still collect original albums so... Guess that I need a replacement. *SOB*

Can anyone recommend me an inexpensive and decent mini hi-fi?

Thank you!
